Your data is kept in Germany

Nutria runs on a server in Germany. No advertising, no tracking, no cookies, no trade in your data. What goes out is listed here.

What goes outAs of October 2026

Servers in Germany. This site, the web app and the database run on a server we rent from Hetzner in Falkenstein. The site loads nothing from other servers, not even fonts.
Sign-in. When you sign in, your email address goes to Nexxus ID, the shared sign-in for the Nexxus apps. Its server is in Germany too. Nexxus ID sends the email with your sign-in link and sign-in code through Scaleway in France.
Recipe suggestion. Ask for one and the name, storage place and date of each item in your pantry go to Anthropic's language model in the USA. Only then. Nothing from your profile goes along.
Barcodes. If we do not know a barcode or our entry is older than 30 days, your device asks Open Food Facts directly. It is a non-profit project in France. What travels is the number and the IP address of your device.
Reminders. In the browser the message is encrypted and your browser's push service cannot read it. In the iPhone app it travels through Expo in the USA and on through Apple. Along that way it sits in the clear, with up to five names from your pantry.
Updates. On start and each time you return to the app, the apps ask Expo in the USA for a newer version. Your IP address and technical details about device and app version go along. Your pantry data does not.
What you eat stays yours. Nobody can buy a place in your recipe suggestions. Your pantry list is not for sale.
